Amazon Virtual Multipacks Are Finally Here: What to Check Before November 11

What we've waited years for is finally here, right before the holidays. Amazon's virtual bundles never let you sell two of the same product. Virtual multipacks do.
Amazon is rolling out a new wave of virtual multipacks for selected FBA brand-owned products.
What a virtual multipack is
A virtual multipack is a 2-pack, 3-pack and so on of your own product, sold as its own offer and fulfilled from the single units already sitting in FBA. No new inventory, no shrink wrap, no new prep. Each one gets its own ASIN and SKU and shows up as a variation on your existing product page.
Why I like it
- Buyers who want more than one unit get a clean way to buy it in one click.
- Higher order value from customers you already have.
- No extra packing or extra stock to manage. It's the same units you already sent in.
The dates
From Amazon's notice to sellers:
- Listings are created by October 28
- You can review them through November 10
- They go live to customers on November 11
What you control before November 10
Amazon builds a basic version of each listing from your single-pack page. It's worth improving it before November 10, so customers see what you want to show them and not the system default.
- Title, description and images, on the Edit virtual multipack page. Make the pack size obvious.
- Price. By default it's your single-unit price times the pack size, and you can set a discount just for the multipack. Coupons and ads work too.
- Whether to keep it. If a pack size doesn't fit your pricing, you can delete it.
Two things to know first
- Edit only on the Edit virtual multipack page, because other tools can break the listing.
- You can't change the pack size or create multipacks yourself, and a deleted one can't be brought back during the pilot. So decide calmly before you delete.
How to find yours
Open Manage All Inventory and filter for VMP_.
Our take
This is a real chance to grow order value into Q4 without touching your operations.
