Amazon Raises Its EU FBA Surcharge to 2%

Amazon just raised its European FBA surcharge, and the headline number is small on purpose.
The fuel and logistics surcharge goes from 1.5% to 2% starting November 2. It hits FBA in ten stores: the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ireland and Belgium. Multi-Channel Fulfillment gets the same increase on November 19 in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
Amazon says that on average it works out to a €0.02 increase per unit for EU FBA. Two cents. Most sellers read that and move on. I would not.
Here is why. The surcharge is calculated on your fulfillment fees, not on your sale price. So the average hides the spread. Amazon itself says the impact "will vary based on your item's size and dimensions." A small, light product barely feels it. A big, heavy item with a big fulfillment fee feels it more. And a cheap item, where the fulfillment fee is already a large slice of the price, feels it most as a share of the sale.
This is also the second move this year. The surcharge started at 1.5% in April, and Amazon wrote that it will "continue to evaluate this surcharge as conditions evolve." I read that as: do not treat 2% as a permanent number. And it lands while the festive peak fulfillment fee window is running, through January 14, 2027.
For a US seller selling into Europe, that is the real point. If your Europe margin math was built before April, it is already out of date.
One thing to do this week: open the Fee and Economics Preview in Seller Central, which Amazon says now includes the surcharge, and look at your EU SKUs. Start with the heavy ones and the cheap ones. Better to find the weak SKUs yourself in November than let your Q1 numbers find them for you.
And if something on your Amazon account feels stuck or off while you are busy with Q4, message me. Smaller fees are annoying. A blocked account is the expensive kind.
