A daily Market Wize index built only from public enforcement records that touch Amazon sellers. It shows whether that activity is running above or below its own past year.
Last updated: October 18, 2026, 20:35 UTC. Method v1. General information for US sellers, not legal advice. Market Wize is not affiliated with Amazon.
Amazon Enforcement Gauge
56 / 100
Normal
Calm 0 to 19 · Low 20 to 39 · Normal 40 to 59 · Elevated 60 to 79 · High 80 to 100
A Market Wize index. Not an Amazon figure and not a count of suspensions. The gauge averages three public signals, each scored against its own past year. A score of 50 means a typical level for the past year.
Amazon Change Pace
67 / 100
Elevated
A separate Market Wize dial, not part of the Enforcement Gauge. It shows how fast Amazon is changing what sellers face (seller news, AI and automation launches, Selling Partner API changes) compared with its own past year. Not an Amazon figure. A fast pace is not good or bad by itself.
Seller announcements: 5 in 30 days to Oct 17, 2026, score 41 Normal Past year: low 0, median 6, high 14. Amazon's own seller news posts on sell.amazon.com/blog and seller stories on aboutamazon.com, by publish date. Source: Sell on Amazon blog.
AI tools for sellers: 1 in 30 days to Oct 17, 2026, score 88 High Past year: low 0, median 0, high 1. Amazon seller posts from the same two sources whose title or address names AI, agents, assistants or automation (for example Seller Assistant). General Amazon AI news is not counted. Source: About Amazon newsroom.

What this measures, and what it doesn't
Measures: how busy three public enforcement channels are compared with their own past year: IP lawsuits against online sellers, product safety recalls naming Amazon, and FDA warning letters that mention Amazon.
Does not measure: Amazon account suspensions, deactivations or appeal outcomes. Amazon does not publish those numbers. This is not an Amazon figure.
Every number links to its public source. No number on this page is estimated.
The three signals
Schedule A IP lawsuits
63Elevated
54 cases filed, October 10 to October 16, 2026 (7 days).
Past year, same 7-day window: low 11, median 50, high 95. Today's count is higher than 63.3% of the past year's.
Weekly counts, last 52 weeks.
Federal cases with "Schedule A" in the case name filed in the Northern District of Illinois, where most of these IP suits against online sellers are filed. They name sellers on Amazon and on other marketplaces. Counted 2 days back, because new dockets arrive with a delay.
2 letters, September 18 to October 17, 2026 (30 days).
Past year, same 30-day window: low 0, median 0, high 3. Today's count is higher than 91.8% of the past year's.
Weekly counts, last 52 weeks.
FDA warning letters, by the date FDA posted them, whose text mentions Amazon (for example an Amazon storefront or listing). Each match is checked by a person. Counted to yesterday. FDA posts letters in weekly batches.
We also check 10 public Seller Central help pages (Business Solutions Agreement, Account Health, appeals, IP and product policy pages) once a day for changes. A change counts only after a person confirms it is a real policy change. Watch started October 18, 2026; confirmed changes so far: 0. It joins the gauge after 90 days of history, from January 16, 2027.
Method (v1)
Each signal is a rolling count: Schedule A cases over 7 days, recalls and FDA letters over 30 days.
Each count is scored 0 to 100 as its percentile rank against the same rolling count on every day of the past 365 days (ties count half).
The Amazon Enforcement Gauge is the plain average of the three scores (equal weights).
Bands: Calm 0 to 19, Low 20 to 39, Normal 40 to 59, Elevated 60 to 79, High 80 to 100.
Updates pause for a person to review when a source fails, goes stale, spikes far above its recent range, or when the gauge jumps 25 points in a day.
Any change to the method gets a new version number and a changelog entry. Past values are never recomputed silently.
